How to Correct a Sliding Incident on an Icy Road

Winter is coming soon and there are some things you can do to minimize the effects of sliding on an icy road. There are hundreds of thousands of people who have to deal with the effects of a sliding car that normally crashes on an icy road. When you watch videos of these incidents, some people seem like they have trained just for this incident and others simply respond adversely. So the ultimate question is, what can you do?

You can proceed to gently decelerate the vehicle by simple lifting your foot off the gas pedal when the car starts gliding. Stay calm during this ordeal because getting emotional could change everything. Do not even think about putting your foot on the brake pedal because that could create a worse slide. You can use the transmission's downshift capability to slow the vehicle a bit and push your steering wheel to the same direction the car is going.
